Deleting your Fish & Chips account

The app this applies to

Fish & Chips, the fish & chip shop directory and check-in app for iOS and Android, published by the Fish & Chips team, fishchips.org.uk.

Delete it yourself, in the app

• Open the app and go to the Journey tab.
• Tap Settings.
• Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
• Confirm. The deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

Ask us to delete it for you

If you can no longer sign in, email hello@fishchips.org.ukfrom the address on the account, with the subject “Delete my account”. We will confirm it is you, delete the account within 30 days, and email you when it is done. There is no charge, and you do not have to give a reason.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

• Your profile: email address, username, display name, bio and profile photo.
• Every check-in you have made, including its location, time, notes, star rating and photos.
• Your photo files, removed from our storage.
• Your points, badges, challenge progress and leaderboard position.
• Your lists, likes, follows, group memberships and meet-up attendance.
• Your push notification token, so notifications stop.
• Your saved home postcode, default filters and app preferences.

What we keep, and why

• Anonymous counts.Aggregate figures such as “how many people opened the app on 3 October” remain, with no user attached. They cannot be traced back to you.
• Feedback you sent us. The message stays on file with the link to your account removed, so we can still see what was reported but can no longer reply to it or tell who sent it.
• Shop photos you submitted for publication.Once approved, these become part of that shop’s page for everyone, so they stay — without your name attached. If you want one taken down, email us and we will remove it.

How long it takes

Deleting in the app is immediate. An emailed request is completed within 30 days. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis and are fully cleared within 90 days.
